Enhancing Prey Habitat Capacity to Mitigate Human-Wildlife Conflict, Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, Uthai Thani Province
To tackle the persistent challenge of human-wildlife conflict and foster peaceful coexistence, Siam Winery Group has partnered with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) through Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. Siam Winery has committed 6 million Baht in funding from 2024 to 2026 to reduce human-animal encounters, protect community lives and property, and support long-term ecosystem balance.
The project focuses on improving natural habitats by developing water sources, creating artificial salt licks, and restoring grasslands for tiger prey species. Additionally, modern technology is deployed to empower frontline park rangers, including Camera Traps to monitor wildlife usage, enhanced SMART Patrol systems to secure core habitats, and wild elephant tracking studies to better predict and manage movement patterns near forest boundaries.
